11 AUGUST 2021CIVILIAN SECRETARIAT FOR POLICE ACKNOWLEDGES RECEIPT OF SAGA SUBMISSION |
06 AUGUST 2021FCA AMENDMENT BILL WILL BE "PROCESSED ACCORDINGLY"In a somewhat blasé and short response to our letter to the Minister of Police on the 21st July 2021 requesting the withdrawal of the FCA Amendment Bill, we have been advised that the FCA Amendment Bill will be “processed accordingly”. This was the response from the Minister’s office on Wednesday 04 August 2021. We have yet to hear from the President. This is unfortunate, and does not sit well. It would appear that Government has more time to consult the anti-gun lobby on issues of firearm ownership, something they know nothing about, than with actual gun owners and experts on the topic. As we have said before, we will not compromise on our stance and we will not compromise when it comes to this Bill. SAGA is passionate about the right of the public to choose to own a firearm for whatever legal purpose they see fit. We are passionate about ensuring that people’s rights are protected and we want our members to be secure in knowing that we hold their best interests at heart and we will not compromise on this. We ask for our members’ support, and encourage them to recruit at least one new SAGA member. |

Bills 1. Firearms Amendment Bill of 2021 1.1. Cabinet approved the publication of the Firearms Amendment Bill of 2021 for public comment. The Bill proposes tighter controls and management of firearms and the establishment of the National Firearms Register.
